Downtown Berkeley offers a wide array of housing options for different ages, sizes, and incomes--whether a student, young professional, family, or empty nester.
Downtown Berkeley is at the center of Berkeley, just west of the UC Berkeley Campus, a short walk to Telegraph Ave, and North Shattuck/Gourmet Ghetto, and a bit further than the Elmwood, Loran, and 4th Street commercial districts. Approximately 5,000 persons live within Downtown, and growing.
BART Plaza on Shattuck between Center and Allston is the central transit portal and pedestrian cross roads for the Downtown. The Plaza will begin a $8.5 million renovation project in August 2016, to be completed late 2017.
