Join Mangalam Research Center in celebrating the release of “Mind Beyond Brain: Buddhism, Science, and the Paranormal” a new book by neurocientist David Presti, a distinguished faculty member at UC Berkeley.
“Mind Beyond Brain” explores how evidence for anomalous phenomena—such as near-death experiences and apparent memories of past lives—can influence the Buddhism-science dialogue. Contributors describe the history and current state of scientific investigation into these phenomena. In his own essays, Presti situates the debate that circles around the paranormal and reflects on how greater appreciation for the anomalous could transform the way scientific study of the mind and brain is done.
The event begins with a short talk by Presti, followed by a conversation with Jack Petranker, Director of Mangalam Research Center, and Q&A from the audience. Join us afterwards for continued conversation and light refreshments.
