Chef Asuka Uchida from Fish and Bird * Sukiyaki!

Fish & Bird is a unique Izakaya style restaurant and bar, specializing in modern Japanese cuisine. Chef Asuka Uchida is classically trained in Japanese and French cooking technique. Her modern, sophisticated interpretation of traditional dishes are a reection of the current trends in Japan.

An izakaya is a type of informal Japanese bar/restaurant that serves drinks and small plates. Izakayas are casual places for after-work drinking and eating, similar to English or Irish gastropubs, Spanish tapas bars, and American taverns.

Chef Asuka Uchida has grown up in the restaurant business, as a young girl helping in her family restaurant. She later studied and trained to become a chef. She worked in many restaurants, some with Michelin stars, in places like Osaka, Sydney, New York and in San Francisco. Her training in French and Japanese cuisine are expressed in the always changing menu at Fish & Bird.

During the stay in place order due to COVID-19 pandemic, Fish & Bird is focusing on Japanese and international comfort food. Sukiyaki is a great Japanese comfort food that can be easily prepared at home. We hope you enjoy making it at home!
