Ida Lupino: Hard, Fast, and Beautiful BAMPFA January 13th - February 24th Start this new year off learning about Ida Lupino - through this selection of films, featuring Lupino's acting, writing, production and direction. Energetic, resourceful, and intelligent, Ida Lupino (1918-1995) left her indelible impression on cinema from both sides of the camera. Despite her success as an actor, Lupino was frustrated by the lack of interesting parts for women and the constraints of the studio system. In 1947 she left Warner Bros., and as a free agent began writing, producing, and ultimately directing films in addition to acting. Get Tickets

A timeline of major national and international events will provide context for local musical developments. Other parts of the exhibit will focus on local recording studios, the Berkeley Folk Festival, the rock scene, rhythm and blues, the role of music in the protest movement and the career of Country Joe McDonald. Clothing and other artifacts of the period will also be on....
