Douglas R. Tompkins: On Beauty
September 24 – February 21
Art inspiring environmental advocacy and engagement
Beginning September 24, the David Brower Center is honoring the life and work of Douglas R. Tompkins with photography inspiring environment advocacy and engagement. Be sure to also check out the accompanying book, Douglas R. Tompkins: On Beauty. The exhibition and book will explore several key themes: how the diversity of life emerges from beauty; how beauty and ecological health are intrinsically linked; and how Doug’s personal narrative intersects with conservation history, especially at this particular moment in humanity as we face a collapsing biosphere.
Join the free public opening on Sunday, September 24 and hear from: Tom Butler, Vice President for Conservation Advocacy for Tompkins Conservation; Sandra Lubarsky, Chair of the Department of Sustainable Development at Appalachian State University; and Antonio Vizcaino, professional nature photographer, editor, and conservationist.
